Afghanistan to host Iranian book fairs

TEHRAN -- Iranian books will go on display during book fairs in Afghanistan in spring 2011.
The Balkh University will host a ten-day Iranian book fair from May 17 and Herat will host the same exhibition in June 2011.After the Tehran International Book Fair, which will be held from May 4 to 14, Afghanistan will host an Iranian book fair, the managing director of Erfan Publications Mohammad-Ebrahim Shariati told the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency.
The book fairs are cosponsored by the Islamic Relations and Cultural Organization, Iran Embassy in Kabul, Iran Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and Afghanistan Ministry of Information & Culture.
The previous Iranian book exhibition was held in Kabul in March 2011 and was warmly welcomed by Afghan book readers, Shariati added.
“Neither SAMT, Amir Kabir nor Negah-e Moaser brought back any their books from Afghanistan,” he added.
He said that Amir Kabir, Sureh-Mehr, Bustan-e Ketab, Farhang-e Moaser publications along with other publishers will attend the book fair and Erfan Publications will offer more than 200 books at the fair, he added.
